Make something happen

Sitting back and dwelling in the mind – thinking rather than doing, gives a place in which to ‘create safely’, a welcome haven for dreaming your dreams and creating all that you wish for.  Wonderful ideas need a place in which to germinate, away from the critical eyes of others.   Once born these dreams need some impetus to carry them into reality. There comes a time when taking action and especially making something happen, ups the game of engagement.  That might be a scary thought. In this article, I look at what it means to step out of your comfort zone and start using your talents and unique take on life.

Are you comfortable or constricted?

I like being safely creative, you might say to yourself, because I can dream and stay comfortable – I can dream without taking any risks.  That may be all well and good if you want to stay in ‘space’, but if there is a little niggle at the back of your mind that actually wants the dream to come true, then comfort may turn to constriction.   Overcoming these ‘kinks in the hose-pipe’ – experiencing some ‘discomfort’, means that you can actually spread your wings and enable your dreams to come true.

I’ve lots of ideas but…

Ideas and dreams are great.  Great because they are a starting point, the beginnings of the path that you will need to start down, if you want to bring some change into your life.  Even what seems to be impossible may well come true, if you can make a start.  Think of this path like steering a boat, as the wind and the waves come along, you will need to navigate your way through when it’s choppy.  Equally, enjoy the benefit of being in the flow – when the wind takes the sails and the waves are gentle.

Taking a leap of faith

When taking a leap of faith can seem daunting, this inspiring poem from French poet, Guilliame Apollinaire, might just help:

“Come to the edge, he said.
We are afraid, they said.
Come to the edge, he said.
They came to the edge,
He pushed them and they flew.
Come to the edge, Life said.
They said: We are afraid.
Come to the edge, Life said.
They came. It pushed them…
And they flew.”

When you engage fully with something it allows you to get into the heart of it and understand it better, allowing you to  feel more confident and open – for both yourself and others.  With that familiarity comes the ability to go beyond how you currently are, and the possibility of creating much more.

Over to you…are there times when you find it difficult to make something happen?  Or have you discovered ways to push through, nevertheless? It would be great to hear from you, do leave a comment in the box below.
